UNIQUELY UNA
About me: I'm a Naturalized Citizen, having been born in Montreal. I grew up in a suburb, St. Lambert. I started singing at 13, studied music at McGill, and had a year at Art School. Then to New England Conservatory, and got my BM and MM. I enjoyed opera class with Boris Goldovsky, and became a member of Sigma Alpha Iota. I spent a summer at the music school in Fontainebleau, France, working with Nadia Boulanger. Then I spent five years in New York, singing opera roles at the Amato Opera and Brooklyn Heights Opera, and studying voice with Metropolitan star, Rose Bampton. One fine day I met Phil at a church social, and we were married seven months later. A year after that our daughter, Sylvia, was born. She is now a devoted Elementary School teacher, and a Jazzercise instructor.
I'm a pack rat who hates to throw things away. I wear contact lenses, and I can't straighten my right arm. I get the important things done, but procrastinate on others.
I'm patient, loyal, considerate, and thrifty. I have a pet - a cheerful yellow parakeet that I named Soleil (French for Sunshine). And I read "The New York Times" every day.
INTERESTING THINGS I'VE DONE: Been up the Eiffel Tower, rode a gondola in Venice, honeymooned in Bermuda, sang in Carnegie Hall, climbed to the crown of Statue of Liberty, swam at Catalina, Waikiki, St. Lucia, Antigua, and Key West, walked on Mt. Kiluea, sang with Placido Domingo, walked in Pompeii, drove across country (NY to LA), saw sunrise over the Grand Canyon, drove the mountains of Yosemite, visited Bryce and Zion canyons, and Yellowstone Park, saw the Sistine Chapel, went down into the Roman catacombs, saw the Crown Jewels in London, sang Violetta in "Traviata" in Central Park for 1.000 people, saw Wagner's "Ring" at Bayreuth, and had dinner wih Astrid Varnay; sailed our catamaran off Key Largo, where we lived for five years, went on a boat trip on the Amsterdam canals, saw Michelangelo’s statue of David in Florence, and so far have seen thirty-nine Metropolitan Opera performances LIVE at the movies. And I survived colon surgery. . . . .
I must say, I've had quite a wonderful life!
